GMAT Preparation Tips for scoring high

Management education attracts students across the world and those who are looking forward to pursue it from any international management institute must have to take GMAT entrance exam. Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is standardised test used by most of the Business School. GMAT entrance test scores are internationally accepted and your entry ticket for leading international B-Schools. If you want to get admission in any USA, UK, Australian or any other management institute you need to attempt GMAT entrance exam.

The GMAT test is designed to test your overall academic aptitude-verbal and written skills are equally important in the business world. It will judge your skills and ability to put in long hours crunching numbers. Like other leading entrance exams such as SAT and GRE, GMAT includes sections which will test your verbal, mathematical and writing skills. The maximum time allocated to complete the test is three-and-a-half hours. Below are some preparation tips to score high in this exam:

Take practice papers: Before you appear in the exam on the final day take as much practice papers as you can. It will help you to improve your scores and enhance your speed. It will also help you in tracking your speed.

Take it early: If you are appearing in the last year or final year of graduation exams, you should start preparing for GMAT exam. You can also take GMAT in second or final year of graduation as the scores are valid for five year and you can attempt GMAT as many times as you want.

Prepare verbal section well: Verbal section is equally important as any other section. Therefore, it is really important that you prepare well for this section. Many colleges accept verbal section scores as admission criteria rather than only depending on language tests such as IELTS and TOEFL scores.

Concentrate on data sufficiency questions: As this section is different from other standardised test and needs more practice to excel in this section. In this section, the questions present you with a question or two statements and ask you to determine if either statement answer the question, or you need to answer each section separately. In first go, without practice you can’t answer such tricky question as they will take more time.

Try to complete each section on time: Whenever you are attempting practice papers try to complete all sections on time or before time. While answering the section try to attempt all questions on time even though if you have to guess a few.

Computer adaptive test: This is a computer adaptive test, there in this exam the difficulty level of next question will depend on your answer of last question you have attempted. The better you perform, the difficulty level of questions will increase with each correct answer.

First 10 questions are crucial: Initial 10 questions play a crucial role in making big difference in your overall score. The better you perform in first 10 questions, the chances of scoring high increases immensely. It is really important that you take time while answering these questions as these are really important in scaling your scores.
