Sheffield Hallam University started new course MSc. Nutrition
Sheffield Hallam University has started a new course-MSc. in nutrition with public health management. Tony Lynn, course leader, MSc nutrition with public health management, Sheffield Hallam University said, “The course will focus on teaching core principles of nutrition, while giving importance to key management disciplines, which are required to successfully operate within this field and include leadership, financial management and communication skills.” This new one-year programme will cover areas such as cellular nutrition, molecular nutrition, population nutrition, marketing, managing people, organismal nutrition, research and consultancy, etc., and all the students are needed to work on a major research-based project which is relevant to their work and area of interest. The team of 10 experience dedicated nutritionists which will include nutritionists, food scientists, food marketers and finance specialists will deliver this course. Lynn said, “The course is designed to help recent graduates and health professionals specialise in public health nutrition . We would be looking for passion and enthusiasm for public health and nutrition. Typically, students should have an honours degree or equivalent in food, well-being , health or biological science , substantial relevant experience at a senior level with evidence from referees, among others.” The course has received accreditation from the Association for Nutrition. After successful completion of the course students are eligible to apply for direct entry to the UK Voluntary Register of Accredited Nutritionists. He further added, “Previous graduates have developed careers with a strong public health focus. Roles include public health manager, obesity lead, healthy schools, food development co-ordinator and health promotion specialist.”
