Despite economic slowdown XLRI noticed 100% placements

Apart from the economic blues, the country’s top notch B-School XLRI has managed to find well-paid summer internship opportunities in April-May 2014 for its largest first-year batch of 303 students. The institute managed to complete this summer internship process in just 3.5 days. The recruitment drive saw 105 companies participated and make 336 offers to the batch.

XLRI director Father E Abraham said, “This is an affirmation of the all-round integral formation we strive to impart that even during an economic slowdown, our students are much sought after by firms across industry sectors.”

In this process, there were top 5 recruiters, which made the maximum number of offers Vodafone, Microsoft, ITC, TAS and Standard Chartered. The highest stipend offered to students was Rs. 3 lakh for internship period. However, XLRI continued its hold as human resource and marketing talent destination, it noticed almost 33% increase in the number of offers made in the finance sector.

Professor Rajiv Mishra, chairperson, placement, XLRI, said, “The meteoric increase (of almost 50%) in the number of recruiters... Stands testimony to the sustained faith shown by the industry in the much sought-after management professional talent at XLRI.”

In this batch of 303 students one third of its students got offers from the finance sector. While PE Carlyle Group continues to recruit summer interns exclusively from XLRI, other leading MNCs from Europe, Singapore and World Bank also recruited students first time.

The largest recruiters in the field of finance were Goldman Sachs followed by Standard Chartered Bank. Whereas, FMCG noticed 40% its students received offers from companies such as P&G, ITC, Reckitt Benckiser, Kraft Cadbury, Asian Paints, Unilever, GSK-CH, Coco Cola, Colgate Palmolive, etc.

Some biggest market player in the field of consulting hired students some of them were KPMG, Cognizant Business Consulting, Deloitte, Boston Consulting Group, etc. Technology and e-commerce companies like Amazon.com, Flipkart, Microsoft, Cisco also recruited students for management and HR roles.
