GMACs recent survey revealed MBA still in demand

Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) has recently revealed a survey report in which it has mentioned that there is huge increase in the number of applications for MBA courses received by B-Schools across the globe. This survey covered admission to 683 graduate management programmes from 328 B-Schools.

As per the survey reports, in this academic year, 50% of full time two-year MBA programmes have registered a surge in number of application as compared to 43% last year. Almost 52% of full-time MBA programmes in the USA recorded an increase in application for the 2013-14 class, a 20% increase compared to last year.

Besides, there is an overall increase in applications, the scene in Asia-Pacific colleges is different to the USA. Asia-pacific region have noticed a substantial decrease in applications this year as compared to last year. Only 46% of programmes in the region reported an increase in application compared to 79% in 2012. The maximum number of full-time one-year MBA programmes is the Asia-Pacific region (53%) continue to report increase in numbers, however, this indicates just a slower rate of growth as compared to last year.

The report says, “Increased numbers of foreign candidates appear to be driving growth for US full-time MBA programmes. The change in Asia-Pacific appears to be driven primarily by declining numbers of domestic applicants, who make up three-fourths (76%) of the applicant pool. Although a majority of programmes reported increased domestic application volume in 2013 (54%), it is much lower compared with 2012 results, when 75 % of programs reported increased domestic growth.”

Besides, in Europe applicant pool, only 38% of European full-time one-year MBA programmes witnessed an increase, whereas it was just 37% last year.
