The most prestigious and talked about Common Admission Test (CAT) is round the corner. The exam is considered as the gateway to get entry into the prestigious B-Schools of the country. There are many top B-Schools in the country such as IIMs, FMS, Delhi Business School and many more, which accept this test score. CAT exam will commence from 19th October, 2013 across the country at various test centres. Aspirants who are going to appear in this test should pull up their socks and brush up their basics before appearing in the exam. While preparing for this one of the most sought after exam students should ensure that they are not taking this exam too lightly. If you will take a strategic approach and prepare strategically you can secure good score in this exam and ensure a seat in prestigious management institutes of the country. Here are some mistakes which you should avoid while preparing for this exam:

Unpredictable pattern of CAT: The exam is considered as unpredictable as every year it comes up with some changes in the pattern. To combat such situation aspirants should sharpen their basics well. It is always suggested that students should cover all the topics while preparing for the exam. If you have prepared well and covered all the topics you will not face any issue in the exam.

Don’t think you have taken enough Mock Tests: The main objective of taking mock test is to know your weak points. This is really important that before appearing in the exam you must know your weakness and strengths. Don’t think that attempting some good number of mock tests will give you full exposure and idea of the exam. Attempt as much exams as you can and try to find out your weak points. Focus more on points on which you feel you are not very strong.

Preparing Selective topics: While preparing for CAT exam don’t be selective with topics. Cover the entire topics while preparing for this exam. Do not just prepare for topics or question which are asked frequently, this might prove fatal to you. The frequently asked questions might help you to improve score, but preparing for those only may also affect your overall score.

Starting a new topic in the end: It will always create confusion, if you start a new topic in last minute. It is always good that you brush up your fundamentals rather than starting or preparing a new topic in last minute. Starting a new topic in last minute can create confusion and unnecessary stress. So avoid preparing any new topic in last days of your preparation.
