More than 1/3 seats in many engineering & MBA colleges will remain unbagged
Around 40% of sets in engineering and Management colleges in the Maharashtra state were remained unfilled. Some colleges in rural areas of Nashik, Aurangabad and Nagpur are having maximum number of vacant seats in their colleges almost 90% of the seats went vacant. This disturbing finding was recently presented by the Directorate of Technical education.
The worried state government has decided to establish a panel to review the extremely terrible conditions of these professional and technical colleges. This panel has now recommended solutions to deal with the vacancies such as increasing the capacity of junior colleges to make sure higher students inflow, shutting down second shifts at more popular colleges and even restricted students intake capacity in itself.
The 15 member panel was headed by Dayanand Meshram, Joint Director of DTE, has proposed many suggestions. These suggestions will soon be presented to higher authorities in the state government with a proper action plan. Many professional colleges in the state which offers engineering, MBA, MMM, hotel management and architecture and other courses have been unable to fill more than 35% of their total seats.
It is a documented fact that more and more professional colleges have been coming up each day in the state in accordance with National Knowledge Commission’s suggestions to create capacity. S K Ukrnde, dean of technology, Mumbai University, who is a part of the state panel.
