IIT Bombay inked MoU with MIT and Harvard
The Indian Institute of Bombay will now offer some regular courses to lakh of students across the country and to international students as well. IIT-B mentioned that it has inked a partnership MoU with edX, a not-for-profit organisation established by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard to launch Massive Open Online course (MOOCs). IIT-B thus joins a consortium of top global universities.
Using Information and Communication Technologies, IIT Bombay has developed training programmes, engaging thousands of participants at a time, through national projects sponsored by MHRD.
The institute said, "Collaboration with edX, and with partner universities, will help us better understand and solve issues in scaling up quality education using technology. Enhancements to the open source edX platform will now add to key areas of our research focus. This will enable technology to be deployed in other areas of education, such as vocational training, school education, and faculty empowerment."
