NIFT Admission Test Paper Pattern & Syllabus

NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology) admission test is generally taken by those candidates who want to get admission in various undergraduate and post graduate courses offers by the institute. This year NIFT pen-paper based entrance test will be help on 10th February, 2013 and computer-based test will be conducted on 6th & 7th April, 2013 at various test centres across the country. The result will be declared on 15th April, 2013. After the declaration of result, successful candidates will be called for GD/PI rounds.

Aspirants who want to excel in this exam must know and understand the paper pattern of the exam. The exam is divided into three major parts General Ability Test, Creative Ability Test and Managerial Ability Test.

General Ability Test: This test will include Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability, English Comprehension and Current Affairs. The number of questions in this section is not fixed. The components for B.Degn., B.F.Tech, M.Degn., MFM and M.F. Tech courses will vary. The test comprises five main sections:

  1. Quantitative Ability
  2. Communication Ability
  3. English Comprehension
  4. Analytical Ability
  5. General Knowledge & Current Affairs

Syllabus

  • Quantitative Ability: The section consists questions based on Addition, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Percentage, Rest of Interest, Work and Task, Ratio and Proportion and Distance.
  • Communication Ability: This section includes questions on synonyms, antonyms, words with corresponding meanings, singular, plural, one word substitutes, idioms and phrases, correct spelling, etc.
  • English Comprehension: This section judges candidate’s ability to comprehend a situation from a given passage.
  • Analytical Ability: This section will evaluate your inference and logic form the given information.
  • General Knowledge & Current Affairs: Questions will be asked on the topics of current affairs, and general knowledge.
  • Creative Ability: This section will be conducted to evaluate the intuitive skill, power of observation, innovation in development f a concept and design of the candidate. One of the major components of the test is creative and innovative medium uses and candidate’s usage of colour and illustration.
  • Managerial Ability Test (MAT): The test is designed to evaluate the managerial skills of the aspirants. The test will comprise of subsections on Case Study and Logical Ability.

Selection Procedure NIFT 2013

Candidates who have qualified the NIFT entrance exam will be short listed on their scores of entrance test. These short-listed candidates will be required to take Situation Test (B. Design) and Group Discussion/Personal Interview for PG programmes.

Situation Test: It will be evaluate the candidate’s skills for material handling and innovative ability on a given situation with a given set of materials.

Group Discussion: Case study based GD will be held of 15-20 minutes of discussion on a case study assigned on which a panel of experts will assess the candidates on different parameters.
