No entrance test for English Journalism in DU
All the candidates who are planning to get admission into the English journalism course of Delhi University have a reason to smile as this year Delhi University will not conduct any entrance test for enrolling students into the undergraduate programmes.
Besides, the admission into Hindi journalism course will be done on the basis of entrance test as previous years.
The Journalism (Hons) in English has been renamed as Bachelors of Journalism and Mass Communication under the new four year pattern.
JM Khurana, Dean of Students welfare, said, “This time Journalism (Hons) has been renamed as Journalism and Mass Communication, and its syllabus too has been renewed.”
Previously, five colleges that offer Journalism (Hons) in English use to hold a common journalism entrance test for students, while Indraprastha College for Women, which used to provide unique course of Bachelor of Mass Media and Mass Communication (BMMMC) conducted a separate test.
Khurana said, "Now IP college which alone used to provide BMMMC course will now provide the same degree of Journalism and Mass Communication like other colleges. Entry is based on the merit list." He further added that this year admission will be done on the basis of cut-off list of different colleges. As per the teachers of the journalism department, BMMMC and Journalism have been merged but components of both the courses are kept alive, and they are complementing each other in the new course.
Principal of IP College, said, “BMMMC is merged with Journalism but the course component of BMMMC is still there and Journalism component has been enhanced.” The department will soon upload the syllabus on the university website.
