US colleges witnessed downfall in enrolments

USA is one of the most preferred study abroad destination and world’s second most sought after study abroad destination. But in its fall enrolments has noticed a shortfall in admission for all classes. To fill this gap of vacant seats most of the colleges are offering price discount to lure more students from abroad. The Forbes magazine in its latest issue published a report in which it highlighted 50 public and private US college listed in the Princeton Review “ Best Colleges” list that are still accepting students in their 2013 freshman classes.

In their scramble to fill vacant seats, colleges are likely to offer significant discount in the form of grants in a type of free market pricing that goes on behind scene, Forbes said.

Forbes Media reported, "There are many more colleges in the United States than is economically viable, Many colleges make deals with families, offering significant rebates to their advertised prices."

Among colleges still seeking students for classes are Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, University of Maryland, College Park, The New School in New York City and many more.

It includes long list of colleges but the National Association of College Admissions Counselors counts 288 college nationwide that have reported vacancies for incoming freshmen this fall.

Most schools on this list offer grants and scholarships to at least 90% of their incoming freshman, with those schools average grants exceeding $20,000.
