IITs ranked among top 200 World Universities
QS World University ranking has recently published the list of top universities of the world. Indian universities, this year too did not perform better in the fields of medicine, economics, law and education. Besides, it managed to grab place among the top engineering institutes of the world.
IIT Bomaby, IIT Delhi and IIT Madras have been ranked among the top 50 engineering institutes of the world in the area of electrical, civil and chemical engineering.
Whereas, Delhi University and JNU have managed to capture places among the top 100 universities of the world for English Literature, while Jadavpur University and University of Kolkata have made it to top 150-200 in this same discipline. IIT Bombay’s linguistic department is the only sole Indian entry in this category among the top 200 of the world.
According to Ben Sowter, QS’s Head of Research, the rankings indicates the progress made by the IITs in the recent past in its field, but the country is way behind the global standards in many other areas of academic spectrum.
