CBSE Postponed NEET- UG exam for MBBS/BDS on Account of Karnataka Assembly Elections

CBSE has postponed the first National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to MBBS courses in view of the assembly election in Karnataka. Earlier, the exam was scheduled to be held on 5th May, 2013 and now the exam will be conducted on 15th May, 2013. The decision has been taken keeping the Karnataka assembly elections in mind, which supposed to be held during the same time.

CBSE order said, "To avoid any inconvenience to the candidates and public in Karnataka, it has been decided by the Central Board of Secondary Education with the approval of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to postpone the date of conduct of NEET-UG 2013 in Karnataka only to 18th May, 2013 Saturday."

The board also clarified that the examination in all other states, UTs and abroad will be conducted on the same date as per the original schedule. The CBSE was organising and holding the common NEET-UG Exam on behalf of Medical Council of India and Dental Council of India for getting admission to all medical and dental colleges in the country.

This is the first-ever common entrance test for MBBS and BDS courses, where more than 10 lakh candidates are going to appear across the country.
