After IITs, now IIMs planning to increase fee

Recently, IITs have announced three folds increase in their tuition fees. Now, IIMs are also thinking to hike their tuition fees. If you are thinking to get enrolled in premier Indian Institutes of Management, then you need to think again before taking the final call. This year you should get ready to shell out more money to get IIMs degree.

The country’s top notch B-School, IIM-A (Ahemdabad) will charge fee of Rs. 16.6 lakh for its Post Graduate Programme, which makes it most expensive in the league of IIMs. The fee will be applicable on the upcoming session of 2013-15, but the total intake of the students will remain same.

IIM-A charged the fee from its first batch of (PGP) Rs. 2 lakh. In year 2008, it announced six fold hikes in fee, which increased it from Rs. 2 lakh to 11.5 lakh for the same programme. For the batch of 2012-14 of IIM-A, fee for its flagship PGP programme was Rs. 15.5 lakh.

IIM-Raipur also planning to increase the fee for its flagship PGP programme. However, it is planning to make nominal changes in the fee structure of Rs. 60,000. Besides, IIM-Kozhikode and IIM-Calcutta have not announced anything related to the changes in tuition fee, which charged Rs. 10 lakh from last batch. IIM-Kashmir, IIM-Lucknow and IIM-Rohtak will charge the same fee from students in the upcoming session.
