IIM-B placements: 150 companies made 415 offers with leadership roles

IIM-B placement season has come to an end with happy note. This year, 150 companies have visited the campus and made 415 offers to the 2013 batch of Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B). Sankarshan Basu, Chairperson, Career Development Services, IIM-B, said, most of the students received leadership roles in companies this year, whereas last year students received most of operational roles.

He further added, “The number of offers made this year is slightly lower than last year, but that is also because this year, most offers were converted into jobs.” Last year just 126 companies visited the campus and this year the number has seen a marginal jump of 24. But on the other hand, the numbers of offers were comparatively less 415, whereas last year it was 423.

Of these, 206 offers were made in final placements, 124 in lateral placements, 93 in pre-placements and 43 were offshore offers. This year some industry giants such as Reliance Industries Limited, HCT Technologies visited the campus to recruit students for leadership roles. Other participating companies were Aditya Birla Group, Tata Administrative Services (TAS), Cisco, Mahindra Group, Hinduja Group, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Cipla, DTDC and Ranbaxy.

International banks, which attended placement season were Bank of America, Citibank, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, Royal Bank of Scotland, Standard Chartered, HSBC and Swiss investment bank UBS also visited the campus. This year some private equity firms, the Blackstone Group (London) and consulting firms Greenwich and Roland Berger, recruited exclusively from IIM-B offering international locations. Boston Consulting Group placed 12 offers, which turned to be biggest recruiter of this year.

Procter & Gamble made five offers for Singapore and India locations, PepsiCo and Airtel offered international and Indian profiles to students selected. Other major recruiters were HUL, Nestle, Kraft Foods, Asian Paints, Glaxo Smith Kline, L’Oreal and Nokia. IBM, Cognizant, Genpact, Glopore and IMS also hired students.
