Soon IIM Tiruchirappali will get 172 acre new campus

IIM-Tiruchirappali get green signal from the board of governors to set up its own new campus. Prafulla Agnihotri, Director, IIM-Trichy said, “the B-school's plan for a new campus on a 172-acre site on the outskirts of Tiruchi is set to take off.”

In the first phase, the institute will get an investment of Rs. 330 crore. This new campus will have new academic blocks, residential bungalows, staff housing and hostel for students. The institute will also have a 1,500 seater auditorium. As per an official statement, Rs. 550 crore will be given by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The first phase will begin within 15 months.

The institute will have the capacity to accommodate more than 400 students in the campus. It will also have a sports complex for physical activities. The institute has organised and international competition for selection of architects for the campus which was won by CnT Architects from Bangalore.

The campus will have a green and zero-waste area where water will be recycled for landscaping. Smart classroom will offer facilities that integrate computer, multimedia and network technologies including interactive projectors, sound systems, video-conferencing, HD recorders and document cameras to stream lectures from off-campus locations.
