GATE 2014 Registration Process

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India level engineering entrance exam mainly conducted to evaluate the comprehensive knowledge of aspirants in various undergraduate subjects in Engineering/Technology/Architecture and post graduate subjects in science. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven Indian Institute of Technology (IITs at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) jointly conduct this sought after GATE Entrance Exam. The operations related to GATE entrance exam in each of the eight zones are managed by Zonal GATE Office at IISc. or IITs. The institute which will organise the GATE exam will take care of each and every process related to exam and coordination amongst the administering institutes. This year, the GATE 2014 will be conducted by IIT Kharagpur. The GATE exam will be held between 1st February 2014 and 2nd March, 2014, examination for some of the papers in GATE 2014 will be held in multiple sessions.

GATE is conducted through the collaboration of eight zones. The zones and the corresponding administrative institutes are:

Zone-1: Indian Institute of Science Bangalore

Zone-2: Indian Institute of Technology Bombay

Zone-3: Indian Institute of Technology Delhi

Zone-4: Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati

Zone-5: Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur

Zone-6: Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur

Zone-7: Indian Institute of Technology Madras

Zone-8: Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee

GATE 2014 Application Process

Those who want to apply for GATE 2014 can get all application process details in a single GATE online Application Processing System (GOAPS). Aspirants are requested to register/enrol and fill the application via online mode only by accessing the Zonal GATE website of IISc and any of the seven IITs.  At the time of filling up the application form online aspirants should upload the photograph and signature. After filling up the form online and submitting it, aspirants should take the print out of on duly filled online application. Candidates should send this duly filled application signed and good quality photograph affixed in the appropriate place to the respective Zonal GATE office along with all necessary documents, if any before the last date.

Candidates should fill all the necessary information in the online application form by carefully following instruction mentioned on the site. Candidates can edit the data at this state if really needed. Candidates should upload the required soft copy of photo and signature. Before moving to next step ensure that your photo and signature that are uploaded are correct and of right quality.

·         Candidates can select one of the two payment options while filling up the online form.

·         The GOAPS allows candidates to enter the data, “Save” partially filled form, “Logout”, and resume filling in by logging in again. Candidates may address the error messages that may appear on saving the filled in data.

·         Before making the payment ensure that all the information you have filled are correct and have no errors or missing data.

·         Once you click on press “Submit & Proceed to Payment” button, no further changes to the application can be made.  

·         After processing “Submit & Proceed to Payment” you will be taken to payment option where you may choose offline or via Net Banking option. If you have selected the challan payment option will directly proceed to the next step “Proceed Next for PDF Download”.

The printed application form along with the supporting documents must be sent by Speed Post or Registered Post to the Zonal Office, as mentioned in the printed address slip that comes along with the PDF file of the application form.
