Summer placement indicates a better placement season ahead in January

If summer placement reports are taken into consideration, Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University, can further hope for a good placement season in January. In this summer placement which concluded recently, this year 35 new companies participated in 40% of those which made offers to students. Total 133 companies participated in the placement session and out of those just 88 companies made offers to current batch of 210 first year students. The highest package offered to the student is Rs. 1 lakh per month.

Despite the economic downturn, students receive good offers from companies. Sales and marketing firms come up with 37% of offers, which was followed by consulting, general management and strategy and finance cos. Nearly, one-fourth of the batch strength has chosen consulting, general management and strategy roles. Tata Administrative Services made eight offers to students.

As per the placement team, there will be a good number of final placement which have not very exciting for many B-Schools this year which also includes FMS and IIMs. FMS placement advisor, Mala Singh, said, “We are happy with the offers our students have got. They would surely benefit from these opportunities. It's an indication of a better scenario for the final-year placements next year.”

Besides, the grim condition in the banking and financial sector, the B-School managed to place a fourth of first-year batch in finance sector in this summer placement session. Front-end investment banking, private equity, treasury and financial market were among preferred roles.

In this placement session, almost 38% of the students opted for internships in sales and marketing profiles. These students will join the corporate houses for summer training in April 2014. The summer internship is just for 2-3 months and companies will make pre-placement offers on the performance of the students in this period.
