Gujarat, Maharashtra and Odisha joined JEE entrance exam

Join Entrance Examination (Main) is all set to see more aspirants this year appearing in the exam. This year, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Odisha also joined the entrance exam for engineering colleges. The authorities are thinking that the number of candidates is likely to increase and cross the 14 lakh mark, highest so for which was recorded last year. The CBSE has declared the dates for the entrance exam for getting admissions into the prestigious engineering colleges of the country such as NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded technical institutions, institutions under various participating State government and various other top institutes of the country. This exam is also the basic or preliminary one from which the top 1.5 lakh successful candidates who get a chance to appear in the JEE (Advanced) the exam conducted for getting admissions into the prestigious IITs of the country.

The application for the JEE (Main) entrance exam will commence from 15th November, 2013 and aspirants can apply only through online mode by visiting the official website of the JEE exam. The last date for application process will be 26th December, 2013 and the exam will start on 6th April, 2014. The exam will be conducted on both the modes offline and online mode for paper 1, while paper 2 which is for architecture will be conducted only on offline mode.

This year, three other states Gujarat, Maharashtra and Odisha have also joined the JEE (Main) system. Therefore, the candidates looking for getting admissions to the institutions in these states, which were earlier enrolling students on the basis of their State Level Examination, also need to fill the JEE (Main) 2014 application form online.

In JEE, last year 14 lakh candidates registered for the exam. The test is really important for the candidates who want to take admission in engineering colleges and this exam will also determine fate of 1.5 lakh successful candidates who will appear in the JEE (Advanced). It will also determine the final merit list of JEE (Main) for admissions BE/BTech programmes of various National Institutes of Technology, Indian Institutes of Information Technology, Delhi Technology University and other centrally funded institutes of technology, as well as engineering colleges for the participating states.
