Harvard University replaced University of Cambridge in QS World rankings

The QS University ranking which is considered as one of the most prestigious rankings of the world has recently published its world ranking reports, in which Harvard University, USA has grabbed first position by replacing its competitor University of Cambridge in the overall ranking.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology topped the table for the second year in a row, by attaining the perfect score of 100 in the QS ranking. The University of Cambridge, in third place, maintained its status of highest ranked university in Britain and the rest of Europe.

Britain has the maximum number of universities among the top five three are from Britain, University College London sustained its position in fourth place, while Imperial College London has climbed the ladder of ranking by one place from last year, replacing Oxford in fifth place.

Britain has total 6 universities among the top 20, the others being the University of Edinburgh and King’s College London making a new record, besides, Switzerland and Canada have two colleges and one in the top 20 respectively. Rest of the 11 colleges are from USA. This ranking also indicates that the graduates from Oxford and Cambridge are regarded as the world’s most employable universities. The high prevalence of American universities has led many to question the efficiency of Britain University funding in comparison to America’s preference of private institutions.
