Changes in medical college norms, no new medical college in Bangalore anymore

The Bangalore government has decided to make some important changes for establishing medical colleges in the state and will not allow any new medical college to mushroom in the state.

Law minister TB Jayachandra said, “We are framing a new policy to do away with old rules of establishing medical colleges across the state.” The cabinet sub-committee which met to clear four new applications decided to make new rules after they got to know about serious irregularities in the applications forms of four proposals for new medical colleges.

He said, “The applications processed by Rajiv Gandhi University of Medical Sciences did not have essential information on trust members involved in setting up the colleges. One college has no building and land but still they wanted permission. This is ridiculous. If necessary, we will initiate action against them. We want new colleges in backward districts.” He further added that the government has decided to not to allow any new medical college to set up their shop in the state anymore.
